Café Scientifique - Radiotherapy-cutting edge or out of date?
16th May 2017
A talk by Dr Martin Christlieb, Department of Oncology, University of Oxford.
Radiotherapy has been in use for over 100 years, yet it is still a workhorse of cancer medicine. How does it work? Why is it still in use? And will we still be using it in 20 years? During May's Cafe Sci we will explore these issues and discover why research institutes like the Department of Oncology at Oxford still look to develop and explore radiotherapy as a key part of tomorrow's cancer medicine.
Martin Christlieb is the public engagement manager at the Department of Oncology, University of Oxford. Martin's role is to make the Department's work available to all who are interested. Before taking up his current role Martin was an active researcher developing one of the imaging tools that might help personalise cancer medicine. In his spare time Martin is the Adventure Training Officer for Thames Valley Air Cadets, which means he gets to hill walk, climb, and trail cycle a lot!
