Last year Didcot First launched the Business and Community Awards — the BACAs — Didcot’s answer to the BAFTAs. To give the presentation event (held at Cornerstone on 16th October) the credibility it deserved we were delighted to welcome the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, the Mayor of Didcot and our MP to preside over the evening. The BACAs were designed to recognise and reward excellence amongst local business and community groups in four categories. Entries were encouraged from the public, members of organisations, business owners, employees — in fact anyone who wanted to make a recommendation. The nominations came flooding in — there were obviously many groups and organisations doing fantastic work in Didcot and we should all be very proud. But not everyone could be an outright winner. Our independent judges (from the Federation of Small Business, Business Link, Oxford Brookes university, OCVA, Whitbred, Orinoco Scrapstore, PACT and many others) had a really tough job interviewing the shortlisted candidates and scoring them before making their decisions. Didcot First would like to applaud all those nominated, with special congratulations to those who received a special commendation, runner up or winner’s prize. Why not go to the 'galleries' page and see who won ? |
