Café Scientifique
7 for 7.30pm in the usual venue of Cornerstone. Do come early and try out the range of food and drink in Cafe Bar which is under new management.
Café Scientifique is an umbrella name for all the small gatherings across the world where people meet to hear about and discuss scientific breakthroughs and advances. Didcot First run the Didcot Café Scientifique, which was launched in early 2010. It is important to us because we have some really ground breaking and earth shattering science happening all around us: at Harwell, Rutherford, Culham, Milton Park, etc. and we want to help connect local people (scientists and complete novices) with what is happening in these places.
Café Sci events are all held on the third Tuesday of the month at Cornerstone in the Cafe Bar area. Visitors can have a drink or a meal before the official presentation starts at 7.30pm - followed by questions and answers and informal discussions. The evening usually ends at approximately 9 - 9.30pm.
Each month we have a different speaker, and would welcome your ideas for topics or speakers. The events are aimed at adults not children, although we will be facilitating some science events for young people at a later date.
There is no need to book - just turn up and participate in these free events! However, please be aware - should visitor numbers exceed the capacity of the venue, some people may be denied entry - so best to arrive early!
